Gérard Gourgue: the man who could have changed the course of history

2012/DVD/122 min French and Creole with subtitles/voice over in English and Spanish

This documentary retraces the turbulent period after the Duvalier dictatorship and reminds us of the struggles for change waged by the democratic forces and the Haitian people. It does so primarily through an intimate portrait of Gerard Gourgue, Human Rights leader, candidate and potential winner of the 1987 presidential election, but also with testimonials from the main players of the time such as Leslie Manigat, François Benoit, Himmler Rébu. This film brings back memories both so close and so distant, buried in the memory of a people with amnesia.
